Day one at terminal 3: Navigating the hustle and bustle of check-in
Saturday January 25, 2025
Stepping into the terminal for my first shift was a thrilling experience, filled with anticipation and my keenness to help passengers on their journey. The airport was filled with energy as passengers prepare for their flights, I had to remind myself "you got this!! ๐ช
I met Charlotte, who gave me a short briefing on my task and what the day would be like. My first task was to direct passengers on flights to Varadero, Cuba. I had to ensure they had their electronic visa ready, as it was crucial for their entry. If not, I directed them to scan the QR code and upload the necessary information. Passengers travelling in different classes had specific check-in areas. I directed travellers to their appropriate counters for Economy Class, Club Class, Eco Flex and Special Services. Each class had their own protocols, and it was important to ensure everyone knew where to go to make their check-in process a smooth one.
INFORMING PASSENGERS ABOUT CHECK-IN TIMES
An essential part of my role was informing passengers that they needed to check-in at least four hours before their flight. Wow....I was bombarded with questions from passengers about check-in times, but i confidently provided the correct information each time!!๐

Another one of my task was informing passengers on what flights were ready for check-in, flights heading to various destinations such as, MAN, GLA and LIS making sure passengers were in the right place to start their travel experience with no hiccups.
ASSISTING WITH SELF-CHECK -IN
After a short lunch break and resting my feet, I assisted passengers with the self-check-in kiosks, these automated stations are a great convenience however, not everyone is familiar with them. I guided passengers through the process. I helped them print their boarding pass, check-in, change seats, make payments and print their bag tags ๐. At first I was unsure how to attach the bag tags properly, after a few attempts I finally got the hang of it!!. Overall my first shift was a frenzy of activity and standing for long periods, but it was incredibly fulfilling to assist so many people. Looking forward to more shifts and sharing more stories ๐
Shift Hours: 1500-2300
